Hamden, CT – Paula Roll, a beloved member of the Hamden community and an esteemed alumna of Boston University, has passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. She departed peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at her home. Paula’s legacy is one of resilience, dedication, and profound impact, touching the lives of many through her remarkable journey.

Born on April 30, 1952, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, to the late Dr. and Mrs. Upton A. Savoie, Paula’s upbringing laid the foundation for her extraordinary life. After graduating from Lincoln School in 1970, she pursued her passion for theater arts at Connecticut College, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974. Her commitment to education and personal growth propelled her to further heights at Boston University, where she pursued a master’s degree in Communications, setting the stage for a transformative chapter in her life.

Paula’s professional journey was marked by dedication and excellence, spanning over four decades in marketing, broadcasting, and advertising. Her tenure at Aetna, culminating in her retirement in 2022, underscored her tireless work ethic and unwavering commitment to her craft, leaving an indelible mark on the industry and those she collaborated with.

Beyond her illustrious career, Paula’s creativity knew no bounds. She found solace and joy in music, composing melodies and lyrics that resonated with audiences worldwide. Travel became a cherished pastime, offering her the opportunity to explore new horizons and cultures. Yet, amidst her adventures, Paula found her greatest joy in the company of her beloved family, cherishing every moment spent together.

Paula leaves behind her devoted husband of 42 years, John H. Roll, her loving daughters Meredith Roll of Burlington and Katherine (Jason) Pomposelli of Davenport, Florida, and her cherished grandchildren Cecilia, Cadence, and Vivienne. She is also survived by her siblings Carolyn (William) O’Neil, Jacquelyn (Jeremy) Medina, Upton (Caroline) Savoie, Jr., and Janet (Donald Winters) Savoie, along with numerous family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Saint Paul VI Parish-Saint Rita Church. Paula will be laid to rest at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, where her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Paula Roll’s journey—from her humble beginnings to her remarkable achievements—stands as a testament to the power of perseverance, passion, and love. Her legacy will forever serve as a beacon of inspiration for generations to come, reminding us all to live life with purpose, courage, and unwavering determination.
