Brianna Monroe Giavon Obituary: Brianna Monroe, 26, has sadly passed away. Brianna was found dead alongside her 1-year-old son, Giavon August, inside her car. She was in the driver’s seat and her son was in the back seat. Officers received calls from the toddler’s father in Houston at around 2:55 p.m. Saturday.
He told police Monroe sent a message that she was going to kill the child and herself. When Monroe’s family members tried to reach her, their calls weren’t answered.
The investigation is ongoing. Our prayers and condolences are with the family of the deceased during this difficult time.
What Happened at Beaumont
Beaumont police are releasing the names of the victims of a murder-suicide involving a mother and her 1-year-old son.
The bodies of the mother, Brianna Monroe, 26, and her 1-year-old son, Giavon August, were found inside her car. Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. says she was in the driver’s seat and her son was in the back seat.
The original call came in at 2:55 p.m. Saturday from the toddler’s father in Houston. He told the police that Monroe sent a text saying that she was going to kill the child and herself. When Monroe’s family members tried to reach her, their calls weren’t answered.
Police issued a critical missing alert and began looking for her. Monroe’s family later notified BPD that they discovered her 2019 Volkswagen Jetta at Perlstein Park on Landis in the Amelia neighborhood.
Officers responded and found the car backed into a space in the parking lot with the bodies inside.
Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. has ordered autopsies.
